Ex-Head chef from award winning Baduzzi restaurant, Glen File is originally from Gisborne. He studied in Waikato where himself and Ben were first year class mates, they have kept in touch ever since.
After cooking school he moved back to Gisborne and started working with John Talmage and James Broad, before heading overseas. The first stop was Rome, then through Europe, the UK and the US a number of times before coming home where he worked for Darrel Gregory at the Marina restaurant.
Then there was the move to Wellington, where he proceeded to stay for eight years and ran kitchens at Boulcott St Bistro, Arbitrageur and Osteria Del Toro, along with more travels which gave him the understanding of French, Italian and Spanish flavours, which he loves to cook both in a professional kitchen and at home with family and friends. Classic comfort food with a modern twist, full of flavour, simple and stylish is the best way to describe his food.
The move to Auckland was not planned, it started with a catch up and a couple of drinks with Ben, which resulted in him moving to Auckland 2 months later to run the kitchen at Baduzzi Restaurant.
Glen has an exciting new venture in the pipeline.
